In this activity, each student will create a "dating profile" for a book. By highlighting key characteristics of the book, students will craft profiles that showcase why their book is a great pick. This activity acts as a fun alternative to a traditional reading log.
Instructions:
- Have students choose a free-reading book they're currently reading or have recently finished.
- Fill out the dating profile template, including either a drawing or printed image of the book cover as the "profile picture," the name of the book, the book's "age" (publish date), and who makes a perfect "partner" (reader) for the book.
- Once students complete their profiles, display them on a bulletin board or around your classroom.
- Allow time for students to walk around and view each others' profiles. Hopefully they find a new favorite book!
